great location, clean, very good for this category of accommodation
It is a bit different from regular backpacker hostels where a bunch of young backpackers just party away at nights. It is located in a quiet (and expensive so I heard) neighborhood, and the guests there were actually able to enjoy a nice and quiet stay. It has pretty much got everything I need...nice staff, decent room, extremely clean toilet & shower room, close bus stop and supermarket. A very good bargain.
The hotel counter closes in the evening, which was a bit inconvenient. But overall, I would recommend this place to those travelling on budget.
Family mood, staff very friendly. Convenient location. Kitchenette allowed you to cook own meals in room - very important for me. Very quiet. Nice old building. Cheap!
Didn't get clean towels during 4 day stay.
Kitchenette was great, bathrooms were good, never had a problem finding an open one. Amazing location, fun varied and inexpensive places to eat. Nice park a few blocks away with cool fountain. Our room was further back in the building, never heard any road or people noise. Staff was helpful regarding area and helping get information about show at opera house. Would highly recommend as a Sydney base, affordable and comfortable.
Construction in front of building was annoying, but not the fault of lodge. Elevator would have been lovely.
Kings Cross (the area around Macleay Lodge) has some nice deli shops. The staff in the Lodge are quite friendly.
Further out of Sydney centre than expected- wouldn't want to walk back there alone at night. Room was very cold and the bed wasn't made each day. Hotel staff didn't explain where the bathroom facilities were (and the bathrooms were messy and one ran out of toilet paper). There isn't a secure place to leave luggage if you check out early.
very clean shared bathroom, value for money.
Proximity to embassies at Woolahra and accessibility to galleries and museum.
Lack of private bathroom.
We liked the location. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony, being able to consume our own food there and relax.
the rooms were too dark - the balconies could be painted in a lighter colour.I was not aware that the rooms hat no bathroom. Also for the room prices the beds could have been made.
The location was great and really close to kings cross subway station. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Our reservation for two nights got mixed up and they thought we had 2 rooms for one night instead, but the staff were very helpful and even let us check in at 9am instead of 2pm.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
My first room on ground floor had cockroaches, no daylight and was very noisy. Then I had the chance to move to a room on top floor, which was much much better.
The staff was so friendly and helpfull! Very warm welcome. Loved flatscreen tv and comfortable bed.
The room was to small. A lot on noice from outside and the walls are to thin.
it was cheap but clean and frendly.
when the fridge is on it can be warm in the room, iswitched it off and the temp was oke in the room.
nothing much because i didnt like the room much and they didnt provide parking so i wasnt happy about that.
The kitchenette and microwave were very practical.
The room was really hot and the last day, we did not have hot water for the shower.
The hotel was pleasant and the area (away from the sleaze shops) is lovely, full of lovely old apartment buildings from the 20s and 30s. It's also a nice walk from the hotel around to Circular Quay.
The room was comfortable and there was fresh air. The shared bathroom (as well as the room) was spotless. On the negative side, there seemed to be some kind of time control on the ceiling fan; it kept turning itself off and the room would quickly become too hot. Also, a brighter light for reading would be good.
